The 10 Most Expensive Pokémon Cards in 30th Celebration
Here's an updated list of the most expensive Pokémon 30th Celebration Cards.
Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration has got a little bit of everything for everyone. Every single pack has a special holographic Pikachu. There are retro cards like a reprint of the Base Set Charizard, and if you want something new, you can pull futuristic-looking Mew and Mewtwo cards that come in some very funky color variations.
True to its name, this expansion feels like a true celebration of Pokémon, and the singles prices reflect that. Although it's a bit early to fully evaluate the market prices for this set, there are some great opportunities to buy affordable singles from 30th Celebration. This top ten list contains a diverse assortment of cards that are shockingly affordable, with a handful of expensive chase cards.
Every price in this list is sourced from Price Charting on the day of publication. This list only includes cards printed and distributed in the United States, excluding cards like the Chinese promo Pikachu ex. Read on to learn about the top ten most expensive cards from the Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration set.
10. Mewtwo ex #151
Price: $95 (ungraded)
Starting off the list is this full-art Mewtwo ex, which sold for $95. The illustration, done by Yano Keiji, portrays the beloved legendary Pokémon in an iconographic-esque style set against a geometric patterned background.
9. Mew ex #158
Price: $99.05 (ungraded); $527.90 (PSA 10)
This iridescent, futuristic rendering of Mew is maybe one of the most visually striking cards from the set. Both Mew and Mewtwo got cards with a similar art style, but the Mew version is more popular. Here you can see the adorable Pokémon set against a background with energy icons and a Poké Ball.
8. Pikachu ex #150
Price: $99.99 (ungraded); $527.93 (PSA 10)
This Pikachu ex truly makes the celebration set feel like a party. Pikachu and several other Pokémon like Hisuian Zorua, Eevee, Umbreon, and Gengar all gather beneath a firework display at what appears to be a festival. The card is absolutely bursting with charm and brings joy to those who look at it. So if you want to grab one for yourself, one sold for $99.99.
7. Jirachi ex #155
Price: $101 (ungraded); $536.54 (PSA 10)
There are some really adorable cards in 30th Celebration, and this Jirachi ex is definitely one of them. The card art, illustrated by Egawa Akira, shows the mythical Pokémon set against a dreamy, cosmological background. It's an absolutely stunning card and an ungraded single sold for $101.
6. Magikarp #203
Price: $117.44 (ungraded); $599.45 (PSA 10)
Magikarp might be a pathetic Pokémon, but this card is anything but that. The art is absolutely stunning. The card portrays Magikarp in a wild, jungle-like setting. You can really see the fish Pokémon striving to be its best Gyarados self, as it leaps in front of the gushing waterfall. An ungraded version of this card sold for $117.44.
5. Gengar ex #154
Price: $118.65 (ungraded); $1,277.77 (PSA 10)
Gengar has been a fan-favorite Pokémon, so it's nice to see the ghost-type get a fun full-art card for the 30th Celebration. This card became one of my personal favorites in this set because it has a vibrant color scheme and Gengar's mischievous demeanor really shines through. If you want one, Price Charting has an ungraded sales price of $118.65.
4. Mew ex #152
Price: $159.31 (ungraded)
A very sleepy Mew takes the spot for the fourth most-expensive card on this list. Whereas some of the other Mews in this set have a futuristic look to them, this card has an earthier vibe. It shows Mew with its eyes almost closed, nestled between vines and flowers. An ungraded version of this Mew sold for $159.31.
3. Charizard #4
Price: $204.49 (ungraded); $1,023.16 (PSA 10)
Where there is a list of expensive Pokémon cards, there is usually a Charizard. This list is no exception. The third most expensive card in 30th Celebration is a reprint of the Base Set Charizard. Its original print is one of the most sought-after Pokémon cards ever made, so it's no surprise people would be willing to pay a pretty penny for a later version of it.
2. Lugia #149
Price: $337.35 (ungraded); $1,807.08 (PSA 10)
The second-most expensive card on this list is another one of the reprints. It is the Lugia #149 card from the Classic Collection. The Classic Collection contains reprints from sets spanning the Base Set to the Scarlet & Violet Series, and is meant to document the history of the TCG over the past 30 years. The original print of this Lugia was released in 2003 as part of the Aquapolis expansion. The price for a 30th Celebration reprint is listed at $337.35.
1. RGB Rare Mews
Price: $4,000 (ungraded, red version)
There is a giant gap between the first and second most expensive cards in the set. The most expensive cards in the set are the RGB Mews. There are three color variations of this card in red, blue, and green. The most expensive version is the red Mew, which sold for $4,000, according to Price Charting. (The blue version sold for $3,800 and the green sold for $3,750.) So if you want a big-ticket card, these Mews are the way to go.
