Introducing Live Breaks on BOXED

When it comes to the collectibles hobby, nothing has changed the game as much as live breaks. Live breaks are the perfect intersection of creators, fans, and, of course, the thrill of collecting trading cards. It’s why we’ve partnered with IslandGrown, who helped popularize live breaks for Pokémon and now hosts our massive Golden Ticket events. Now we’re excited to take things to the next level!

We’re introducing Live Breaks on BOXED as a new feature! Now you’ll be able to tune in to your favorite creators directly on BOXED as they go live on stream and open digital packs. As a viewer, you can pay gems to participate in the live breaking experience and receive whatever the creator opens directly into your BOXED Inventory.

What Is Live Breaking?

Live breaking, or simply ‘breaking,’ as it’s typically called, is a livestream format that originated within the card-collecting community. Streamers within the hobby will host live breaking events where they open sealed product during a livestream, and community members who pay to participate in the break receive cards from packs in the box.

It is one of the biggest homegrown formats in card collecting, and a ton of fun if you haven’t yet participated in it. Here's a clip of IslandGrown's Golden Ticket live break for BOXED.

BOXED Is Making Live Breaks Easier Than Ever

We already host Live Breaks through BOXED with our Golden Tickets. But as our Golden Ticket events became more popular, we wanted to give our community more opportunities to participate in these fun events. Which is why we’re so excited to introduce Live Breaks directly on BOXED.

Our creators will now be able to host Live Breaks events right here on BOXED which you can access under the Games tab. Once you’re in the Live Breaks page, you can see which creators are hosting Live Breaks, and what boxes they’re opening. If you see a Live Break you want to join, simply click on the event page, pay the gems, and you’ll be queued into the stream and assigned cards from the break.

In the future, BOXED will also provide tickets similar to our Golden Tickets that will reserve your spot in a future BOXED Live Break from one of our creators. This ensures everyone has a fair chance at reserving a limited spot.

While physical Live Breaks require the host to package and mail the cards you receive from the break to you, BOXED is making it easy by instantly distributing cards opened during the break directly into your inventory. Once it’s in there, it’s yours to do with as you please, whether you want to claim it and have it shipped to you, sell it back to BOXED for gems, or trade it in the marketplace!

We’re Kicking Off Live Breaks With an Exciting Streaming Marathon!

If you follow us on social media (which if you don’t, you really should), you’ll have seen we shared a schedule for a two-day Live Breaks marathon on BOXED! We asked some of our creator friends to help us promote the new feature with a huge marathon event and we’re so excited to have you join them!

Starting today, Thursday October 29, at 10 am PDT/1 pm EDT, we’re kicking off our two day Live Break marathon with chloeeexo to launch our newest feature, and we’re keeping it going through Friday October 30, 2026!

Check out our full schedule below.

Will BOXED Keep Doing Golden Tickets?

Yes! We love IslandGrown’s Golden Tickets and don’t have plans to stop doing those anytime soon! Live Breaks are a way for our creators to easily host live breaking events with the BOXED community more frequently, but stay sharp because we’ll still be dropping Golden Tickets for you to chase. Maybe even another one real soon!

We can’t wait to start hosting more Live Breaks on BOXED with our newest feature. Be sure to follow us on social media and YouTube as we’ll be sharing clips from our marathon. Plus, it’s the best way to keep up with all the newest features and updates coming to BOXED!
